It’s Community Manager Advancement Day!

Today is Community Manager Advancement Day, an annual opportunity to say thank you to professionals who work to build and maintain engaged communities. This year’s theme is resilience, and we hope you’ll join us on Wednesday for our monthly community call, which will focus on this topic. See below for more information.

At the CSCCE, we work year round to support scientific community managers, and as part of that work we regularly add to our collection of freely available resources. This month, we released a guidebook describing our skills wheel for scientific community managers. The wheel, which is intended as a practical tool for hiring and professional and personal development needs, was developed by four alumni of our Community Engagement Fellows Program, along with CSCCE staff, and describes five core competencies and their component skills. CSCCE Winter Training Session: Registration open!

Our 6-week, cohort-based trainings bring together scientific community managers in a supportive, online learning environment. Participants learn from one another and apply our core frameworks to their work. We have a limited number of places available on our two remaining winter sessions:

There are only TWO places left in our second Winter session of Scientific Community Engagement Fundamentals (CEF21W2), and SEVEN places left in Nurturing Online Communities (NOC21W). You can find more information, including dates and how to register, on the CSCCE website.

Our newest free resource explores the varied skill sets of scientific community managers. The CSCCE skills wheel, and accompanying guidebook, was created by the C3 project team of the 2017 cohort of Community Engagement Fellows.

January Community Call: Resilience

Our January community call (Wednesday, 27 January at 4pm UTC / 11am US EST) will focus on resilience, the theme of this year’s Community Manager Advancement Day. CEFP 2017 alum Jennifer Davison will share her insights on the topic, and there will also be time for discussion and resource sharing.
