Archiving involves considering where a resource will live, what metadata might be added to the resource, and how people might discover, access, and reuse the resource. It’s also important to consider whether the home for the resource is sustainable, i.e., who owns it and how is it funded and maintained? Digital repositories (e.g., Zenodo) are increasingly the archive of choice for many STEM artifacts, and use digital object identifiers, or DOIs, which give the artifact a unique reference number and persistent weblink, and offer the ability to attach credit and licensing information.
