The informational role of a piece of content describes its purpose in terms of how it shares information. There are many reasons to create content: To synthesize a body of work for a report, to curate a range of resources in one place, or to provide an invitation to engage. Considering the informational role of your content at the outset of your content creation process will, in combination with your target audience, guide your choice of content type as well as the content elements and content presentation.
