Press release

Press releases are intended to convey key information to journalists. They are succinct, contain critical details such as names or locations, and may be complemented by images and cutlines that journalists have permission to use in their stories. Embargoed press releases also contain information about when a journalist is permitted to report the story (this is common practice for press releases about upcoming journal articles). It is not usually possible to comment on a press release, and they are perceived as more formal than a blog post announcement.
