Social role (of content)

The social role of a piece of content describes its purpose in terms of how it connects people and influences behavior. We have defined the following social roles for community-engaged content:

  • Creating cohesion and/or a shared narrative
  • Establishing and repeating shared rituals
  • Learning more about one another
  • Determining shared interests
  • Making values visible and reinforcing them
  • Creating an inclusive environment
